Woodnard K. (Woody) Givens

Woodnard K. (Woody) Givens is a dad of a nineteen-month-old son. He is an Associate Professor of Biology at Northern Virginia Community College’s (NVCC) Loudoun Campus in Sterling, VA, where he teaches Microbiology, Anatomy/Physiology and General Biology. In 2014 he received the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Excellence Award, which recognizes community college professors for teaching and leadership. He holds a Bachelor’s in Human Resource Management and a Master’s degree in Biology with a focus on Microbiology and Molecular Biology from Old Dominion University and holds a Masters of Public Health from the University of Virginia. As an MPH student, he was a recipient of a Public Health Impact Award for work on a pilot study that used community spaces in Charlottesville, VA for the delivery of Cancer education for African-Americans.
